Dr. Lisa Botticelli is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, currently serving adolescents and adults in NY and CT. Many of her clients have prominent academic, work, or family/relationship demands and may feel pressure to excel across all domains of life, at times leaving them to feel over-extended and disconnected from the present. Lisa frequently works with clients who are navigating a recent transition, relationship issues, loss, or have noticed they are struggling to regulate their emotions.
Lisa’s approach is grounded in a psychodynamic and relational foundation, though she draws heavily from evidenced-based approaches, notably Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), in addition to compassion and mindfulness-based modalities. She helps clients understand the origins of behaviors and responses that, while once adaptive, may no longer be serving them productively, while also offering strategies and practical guidance that clients can experiment with in the time between sessions.
Clients come to Lisa’s practice looking for a warm and non-judgmental space, because therapy should be a place for clients to feel fully heard and supported. She offers scientifically-backed input and skills and provides direct feedback, tailored to the client’s specific situation. Sessions with Lisa are flexible and focused and she always keeps the client’s goals at the forefront. Through the establishment of a genuine, trusting bond, Lisa strives to help her clients understand the nuances of their emotional experience and move through points of challenge with enhanced confidence, intention, and self-compassion.
Lisa has a passionate interest in the intersection of physical health and emotional well-being. She believe in the healing power of the mind-body connection and strives to help clients connect more deeply to their values and authentic selves. Lisa is currently welcoming new clients at her virtual practice.
