Professional statement

Shanice Applewhaite, APCC (she/they) has a long history of working with disenfranchised populations and has developed a powerful approach that is both grounded and dignifying. They currently focus their work on uplifting queer, biracial, and black adults as they explore multifaceted identities and navigate systemic oppressions and relational traumas that impact their mental health.

Shanice's approach profoundly develops the self-compassion, self-confidence, and self-trust of their clients in a way that allows for safe self-exploration, healing, and alignment with one's values. They use a variety of healing principles and modalities grounded in a strong healing relationship between themself and their client. They are able to incorporate EMDR, somatic, holistic, mindfulness, relational, narrative, experiential, and feminist/decolonial interventions and curates their approach to each client collaboratively.

In their personal journey, Shanice is exploring ethical nomadic living, parenting two sweet cats, and working to strengthen their weak ankles.

Shanice practices virtually in California.

Message to clients

I stand with women.

I stand with queer, transgender, non-binary folx.

I stand with black and brown people, indigenous and colonized people, and for those not invited to the tables they built.

I believe in deconstruction, reconstruction, non violence and transformative justice.

I stand with sex workers, the kink community and those practicing celibacy or non sexual intimacy.

I stand with folx who have experienced religious trauma, or seek spiritual reconnection.

I stand with folx uncertain where they stand in this funky ass world.

Together we can nurture your connection to self. I believe in the wisdom of the body, and the power of self compassion. In fostering loving curiosity towards our actions and emotions.
