ACT Urgently is a group of dedicated therapists in Providence and Cranston, RI, offering individual sessions, group sessions, and online therapy in order to best accommodate their clients' busy lifestyles. We have a wide range of specialties and work to meet each client where they are in their life's journey, and have particular expertise in working with chronic illness, panic attacks, and anxiety.

We incorporate a range of approaches in order to best meet the needs of our clients, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (fACT).

Our approach enables us to offer appointments typically within 72 hours, that are affordable, individualized and effective with positive results typically occurring within 5-8 sessions.

We believe that having easy access to mental healthcare and a safe space is a crucial part of the therapeutic process and are dedicated to being inclusive and welcoming to all backgrounds.

About

What are your practice's specialties?

Our providers have a wide range of specialties, making our group easily accessible for a variety of client needs, allowing us to customize an individualized action plan within the context of their unique identity and circumstances.

Common topics include: a newly diagnosed or ongoing chronic illness, recurring panic attacks, performance and academic stress, anxiety, loss of direction, trauma, grief, and loss.

What services does your practice offer?

ACT Urgently offers individual, family, and couples therapy, in addition to group sessions and workshops. Individual sessions are tailored to each client's needs and held in a safe and comfortable environment. If you travel frequently or have difficulty finding time for therapy, we also have telehealth options.

Group sessions are ongoing based upon current need and focus on psychological flexibility, skill development and workshop programs vary, but previously offered services have included a self regulation and behavioral management workshop and mindfulness practice sessions.

Why should I choose your practice?

What makes ACT Urgently unique is our focus. Contrary to popular opinion, change is not a linear process. People don’t become incrementally better with each subsequent visit. Instead, improvement often occurs within the first few sessions and levels off early (typically by session eight).

With this in mind, all of our clinicians are trained in Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (fACT), a focused version of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), where we strive to take advantage of this situation and focus on living life in accordance with personal values and learning how to exchange responses that aren’t working with ones that will.

The goal is not to get rid of the experience (although a reduction of symptoms is often a side effect) but to provide a way to endure based upon your strengths and development of new skills.

How does payment work at your practice?

This program is set up to make sure people have access to services at a low cost (typically at about the same cost as a copay) and to get those seeking help in as soon as possible. Costs for each session typically run between $35-$60 but can be as little as $15.

There is also an ability to use insurance, but the wait time for that can be outside 72 hours.
