Practice Information

The Center for Anxiety and Women’s Emotional Wellness is a therapy practice founded by Dr. Hillary Ammon and located in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania.

Clients from across the country meet with Dr. Ammon (she/her) at CAWEW to work through the barriers holding them back from feeling confident, comfortable, and present in their daily lives. Many of the clients at CAWEW struggle with balancing the multiple high-pressure roles in their lives, whether that’s the role of partner or spouse, parent, family member, employee, or student. Common behaviors for clients at CAWEW include setting high expectations, engaging in self-criticism, and avoiding stressors that make them feel overwhelmed or worried. An ongoing pattern of these behaviors can result in feelings of anxiety, depression, frustration, disappointment, helplessness, despair, or grief.

The practice philosophy at CAWEW is to acknowledge the thoughts or situations that cause you worry or despair, approach these thoughts or situations in therapy, and see substantial change in your life. By providing collaborative, empathetic care, Dr. Ammon supports the growth and development of her clients, empowering them to prioritize their values and what makes them happy.

Dr. Ammon is considered an expert in the field. She has taught at workshops internationally and has been a featured contributor for Healthline, Prevention, Yahoo! News, Oprah Daily, and Sirius XM’s Doctor Radio. For more information about Dr. Ammon’s expertise and training, please visit the practice’s website.

FAQS

What services does your practice offer?

A former assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Ammon specializes in both anxiety disorders and perinatal mental health. She is also trained in treating depression, mood disorders, perfectionism, and ADHD. Dr. Ammon uses evidence-based therapies in her practice, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, habit reversal therapy (HRT), exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), and prolonged exposure therapy (PE). Dr. Ammon also utilizes skills from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

AT CAWEW, you will receive a thorough intake evaluation prior to beginning treatment. Sessions are typically once weekly, for 45-minutes. Dr. Ammon and her clients periodically assess progress and collaboratively determine how often they need to meet for therapy.

Dr. Ammon also offers intensive treatment for OCD, as clinically indicated. Treatment is offered daily, Monday-Friday, for 15-17 sessions. Please inquire about this option.

What are your practice's specialties?

Dr. Ammon works with individuals of all ages and genders who present with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and ADHD. In addition to helping birthing individuals through the perinatal period, Dr. Ammon welcomes all who identify as a woman, no matter what phase of life she is in, to consider therapy at CAWEW and receive therapy that is validating and makes space for female-specific issues.
