At MK Counseling and Wellness, we are a team of four mental health professionals dedicated to providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and high-quality care. Our framework includes body-centered, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive practices.
We offer services individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy, all aimed at creating a safe and healing environment for clients. All services are offered both virtually and in person at our Chicago offices in the Ravenswood neighborhood.
Lauren Robinson, LCSW (she/her) is a queer identified BIPOC therapist who works from a somatic framework. Lauren supports individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds, and help them identify, process, and find transformation through a range of issues including: negotiating parenting roles and expectations, adjusting to life transitions, processing loss and grief, spiritual questioning, and managing relational stress.
Shelliah Williams, LCPC (she/her) is a BIPOC therapist who supports adults experiencing stress/anxiety, those who identify as neurodivergent, and those who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Support is largely focused on ADHD, disordered eating, sex/kink related issues, and body insecurities. Shelliah uses CBT, DBT, and sex positive framework.
Afsha Merchant, LPC (she/her) is a BIPOC therapist who supports adults, young adults, and teens experiencing anxiety/stress, life transitions, negative thinking patterns, and familial conflict. Afsha utilizes DBT, CBT, and Solutions Focused strategies.
MK Counseling and Wellness is committed to social justice and advocacy, working to improve the mental health landscape for diverse communities. This means that we are in-network with many major insurance companies including Medicaid.
If you do not have one of these health insurances, our fees range from $100-$175 depending on the provider and service offered. We are happy to verify your benefits and elegibility prior to scheduling a session so you are aware of your contribution. We will also submit claims on your behalf directly to your insurance company.

ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Eating disorders & disordered eating - Reducing unhealthy eating patterns, beliefs, and behaviors, such as restricting, purging, and binging; healing the emotional pain surrounding disordered eating
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Healing painful experiences and memories from the past
Nonmonogamy, polyamory, and kink - Exploring one’s values in and beliefs about relationships; practicing boundary-setting, conflict resolution, and romantic or sexual relationship bonding with partners
