Sankofa Counseling is a private therapy practice in New Haven, CT that specializes in providing strength-based, client-centered care to individuals on issues that include depression, trauma, substance use disorders, and anxiety. The providers at Sankofa Counseling welcome individual adults, young adults, and teenagers, as well as parents and senior citizens.
Sankofa Counseling offers individual and group therapy sessions. We believe that a strength based, client centered foundation combined with unconditional positive regard are the keys to change and healing. Our mission is to address the needs of inner city residents using a culturally competent approach.
The therapists at Sankofa Counseling specialize in a variety of areas including, anxiety, depression and trauma. Although we serve the greater New Haven area we have a particular interest in working with individuals who belong to groups that are least likely to receive culturally competent mental health care. Those groups include people of color, immigrants and formerly incarcerated individuals.
Sankofa Counseling is unique in that all of our providers live in the communities that we serve, many born and raised. They have extensive experience in working with people who suffer from urban PTSD, addictions and race related stress.
At Sankofa Counseling, we are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Sheild, Cigna, Aetna, Medicare and Medicaid. If you do not have one of these insurances, our fees range from $150 - $175 depending on the provider and the service offered.
