Co Founders Sara Czworniak and Giana Quinterno met on the first day of graduate school at NYU back in 2015. Sara came from California with the conviction to create change at a young age after her experience with childhood cancer. She lost her hair, independence and opportunity to have a normal childhood. After reflecting on her experiences, skills, and passions she became interested in social issues regarding health and mental health. Giana relocated from Rhode Island to New York City where she worked in public schools providing counseling, crisis intervention and mental health support to young people. During their friendship they discovered a mutual love for designing and implementing movement based activities to empower young people to develop healthy coping strategies to bring emotional and social change.

Project inMOTION is enhancing social emotional well-being through sports and movement based programs. Their programs use a unique and interdisciplinary approach that values being trauma informed, person centered and pro-neurodiversity. They support behavioral, psychosocial, intellectual, body regulation and communication skill development. At PIM, they provide a safe space while addressing the social and emotional needs of young people in marginalized communities. They believe that everyone has the innate desire to move and that young people learn best through play. Their programs use a variety of movement based activities to engage and empower young people in social and emotional learning that is fun! They welcome young people of all abilities and neurodiversity into our PIM community!

About

Why should I choose your practice?

Project inMOTION (PIM) is a creative and holistic program for young people. We prioritize mental health & wellness to enhance social emotional development through dance and movement based programs and therapeutic services. We offer a unique experience for our young people to address various social emotional needs by utilizing their own artistry and creativity. We are committed to person centered learning and creating space for our young people to enhance their social-emotional well-being in real time, instead of a traditional office or classroom setting. Through our programs, our young people positively respond to our friendly and respectful movement approach that honors individual differences and self-agency. Part of our mission is to ensure that we are breaking the stigma of mental health & wellness in our community, and that means redefining what therapy looks like, who has access to services, and by providing education.

What services does your practice offer?

Project inMOTION currently offers movement based group sessions, family sessions and individual sessions. We offer Move. Explore. Play (creative movement), Let's Cheer and BoxNFit in both groups and individual sessions.

How does payment work at your practice?

At Project inMOTION, we are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield. Cigna, Oscar Health, United Healthcare, and Oxford. If you do not have one of these health insurances, our fees range from $25-$100 sliding scale depending on service offered. We are happy to submit claims on your behalf directly to your insurance company.

What are your practice's specialties?

The therapists at Project inMOTION specialize in working with young people ages 2-30. Our practice welcomes young people of varying cultures, abilities and neurodiversity into our community. We specialize in adolescence, early childhood/childhood, trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral, family and dance/movement. We have a particular interest in utilizing recreational movement and play spaces as the mediums we use to expose youth to movement forms where they can become artists in their own healing and wellness journeys.
