Practice Information

Somatic Freedom Therapy is a group therapy practice providing individual psychotherapy services for adults and adolescents. 45-minute sessions for new clients are available with associate therapist Farah Morain whose approach is uniquely tailored to each individual's specific strengths and needs.

At Somatic Freedom Therapy, therapy is about creating a space where a person can enter into an honest examination and understanding of oneself through deeper connection with their mind and body. It is through this process that each person becomes more fully aware and in touch with their truest self. It is in this place that growth, acceptance, and change occur, which allows space for healing.

FAQS

Who are the therapists at Somatic Freedom Therapy?

Founder Danielle Murphy began the practice based on a decade of experience in embodied approaches to trauma recovery. Under Danielle's guidance, Pallavi Ankolekar, Farah Morain and Eva Turner are passionate about supporting people and communities of color through a skills-based and trauma-informed lens.

Farah Morain is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner dedicated to providing a therapeutic approach that is holistic, strengths based and collaborative. What are your practice's specialties?

The therapists at Somatic Freedom Psychotherapy specialize in working with adult and adolescent individuals in a collaborative manner to overcome issues that are causing them distress. They believe that each person has a birthright to feel ease in their bodies and minds, which allows them to have the freedom to live the life that they desire. The therapists at Somatic Freedom Psychotherapy are skilled at working with the impacts of traumatic events, complex trauma, anxiety, depression and life changes. They are especially excited to support and serve BIPOC clients and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Why should I choose your practice?

Somatic Freedom Therapy is unique in that we are a team of all BIPOC therapists who focus on meeting the needs of marginalized communities. All of the therapists at our practice understand that relational connection is key to healing and thus work hard to craft a warm, interactive and authentic therapeutic relationship with all clients. We believe that everyone can achieve a better sense of wellbeing when they learn how to tune into their own inner wisdom presented through both the mind and the body.

You can feel confident that if you come to therapy at this practice, you will be meeting with highly trained and supervised clinicians who are providing interventions and support that are current and proven effective. You will receive culturally competent care from people who are committed to practicing from a framework of social justice.
