The People’s Therapy is a therapy practice located in Brooklyn Heights, NY. The therapists at The People’s Therapy specialize in working with teenage, young adult, and adult clients who would like to unpack the difficult emotions that come from racial oppression, discrimination, and identity-based microaggressions. As therapists of color, they bring a social justice lens to other mental health issues too, including burnout, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, trauma, and grief. They also support parents who would like to express the many emotions that come with having children and to grow their relationships within their family.

At The People’s Therapy, clients can benefit from a wide range of therapy modalities. They learn about the different parts of themselves and how these parts work together through Internal Family Systems therapy. This can be helpful for learning more about the self and exploring how clients show up in different spaces. The therapists at The People’s Therapy also practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a thought-based therapy modality that supports healthy emotional reactions by implementing positive thought patterns and avoiding the harmful self-talk that can lead to low self-esteem and low self-worth. Clients set goals for their mental health, and receive compassionate, understanding support from their therapist. All therapy is strengths-based and leads to a greater sense of resilience for clients.

The People’s Therapy was founded on the belief that mental health services should be available to everyone, no matter how much money they have. The therapists at The People’s Therapy advocate for accessible therapy and actively combat against racism through their work. They create calm, introspective environments in their therapy sessions so clients can talk openly about their experiences and their vision for their mental health.
