The Young Adult Behavioral Health Program (YABH) helps 18 to 26 year old college students (undergrad and graduate) living with psychiatric illness live more productive lives by providing affordable and comprehensive mental health treatment.

Our program seeks to improve accessibility to mental health services for young adults in Rhode Island with a special emphasis on partnering with university and college based counseling centers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

How do you support young adults?

Our program provides psychopharmacologic consultation, long term psychiatric care, referral and partnership with interpersonal, supportive, dialectical and cognitive behavioral therapists. We work with family members, colleges and universities to provide individually tailored treatment. Our clinicians coordinate with inpatient and partial hospital programs to provide each young adult with a continuum of care that is customized to their needs.





College & graduate student mental health - Specialized strategies for common issues of young adulthood, including school and career stressors, support around healthy relationships, existential concerns, drug or alcohol issues, eating disorders, and anxiety and/or depression

Medication management - Optimizing medication use to treat psychiatric conditions

Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Bipolar disorder - Developing coping and preventive strategies to stabilize extreme mood swings, including manic and depressive episodes; increasing effective strategies to regulate emotions and maintain a healthy daily routine

ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure

Locations & Hours

This Program accepts college students 18 - 26 years old (must be a college student or on medical leave) and graduate students over this age range. Please follow prompts for a new patient appointment.
