Professional statement

A large portion of people obtain nutrition information from diet websites, magazines, social media and even well meaning friends and family which often report nutrition myths and misinformation. This inaccurate information can lead to fad dieting, significant weight fluctuations, poor relationships with food, worsened health problems and eating disorders. As an Registered Dietitian Lindsay uses evidenced based nutrition information and nutrition counseling with clients to help them improve health without causing harm.

Lindsay uses a non diet, HAES philosophy as a nutrition therapist and dietitian. She believes eating should not add additional stress to an often already stressful life. Food fuels our body and is also meant to be enjoyed. Lindsay believes we can enjoy all foods and achieve or maintain good health. Lindsay enjoys working with clients to find satisfaction with nutritious meals and food they enjoy and also helping to find balance with foods we eat simply for pleasure and fun.

We are often exposed to only one body type in popular culture. In real life however, bodies come in different shapes and sizes by nature. Science has shown us that behaviors have a greater influence on our health rather than achieving a specific weight. All bodies deserve dignity, respect and adequate nutrition. Lindsay works with individuals find adequate nutrition to support health and a positive relationship with food.

Message to clients

In todays culture of dieting and wellness it can be so easy to feel confused, overwhelmed and like your "doing it all wrong" when it comes to how we feed ourselves. The clients I work with are often struggling with chronic dieting, disordered eating and eating disorders and may struggle with these disorders in addition to medical diagnosis such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

As a Certified diabetes educator I also work with individuals who have been diagnosed with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. These diagnoses often result in an expectation of food restrictions and the idea we must shrink our body to become healthier. However, we know that this often leads to more harm than good. I provide evidence based, weight neutral diabetes education and medical nutrition therapy to help clients further understand their diagnosis and also help them form behavior changes that feel good and improve health long term.
