Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNPDr. Odo began her Nursing career in Texas, after losing a childhood friend with Mental illness which sparked up her passion to become a Mental health provider. She then decided to continue her education and received her Diploma in Nursing in 2008 in Texas. Dr. Odo also decided to spend time helping underprivileged people with their mental and emotional problems. She realized this was her passion.
She received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Brandman University in 2019 and Master of Science in Nursing degree with psychiatry as area of specialty, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Texas Tech university Lubbock 2012; and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Grayson College Texas 2009.
Dr. Odo is passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services as she possesses a strong clinical skill enhanced by her natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. She uses evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. As a PMHNP, her role is multifaceted, including educator, mental health advocate, therapist, and scientist.
With her Doctorate in Nursing Practice, Dr. Odo values interdisciplinary clinical practice and inter-professional collaboration for a whole person, patient-centered approach to health and healthcare. She will always advocate for innovations in healthcare with special interests in the integration of behavioral medicine, and suicide prevention.
Her hobbies include cooking, singing Gospel music, traveling. “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it”. (Proverb 3:27) “It is better to give than to receive”
Addiction - Coping with emotional discomfort and suffering; reducing or abstaining from unwanted behaviors such as unhealthy gambling or shopping
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Healing painful experiences and memories from the past
Substance abuse - Reducing and preventing the negative impact of drug and alcohol use and addictions on physical, emotional, and relational health
Mood disorders - Clinical depression, persistent depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders that cause disturbances in the client's mood, causing mood swings, restless sleep, and/or elevated mood
