Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP Practice: RIVIA MindChristen is an ANCC board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who believes that healing is both an art and a science. Her treatment philosophy is holistic and rooted in an existential, humanistic, and biopsychosocial framework. She provides a safe and relaxed space to explore the profundity and complexity of the individual human experience and aspires to form deep therapeutic connections that allow for empowerment, liberation, and equanimity on behalf of the individual. Christen has an interest in integrative treatment modalities that are person-centered and include psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and mindfulness practice.
Christen acquired both her bachelors of psychology and nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and her masters of science in nursing specializing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner from D’Youville University. Christen has six years’ experience in the mental health field working with mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma, schizoaffective and schizophrenia diagnoses, substance abuse, personality difficulties, and interpersonal stressors. She has worked with a population ranging from the underserved to those seeking self-actualization, and is passionate about health equity, advocacy, and culturally competent care.
