Professional statement

Gena Penn is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who sees clients in FL and MD through online sessions. Gena works with adolescents and women up to age 59 who struggle with ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and more. Gena enjoys working with clients whose mental health is becoming a barrier to overall life satisfaction. Managing the work-life or school-life balance often exacerbates stress levels and leaves them feeling unbalanced. Gena aims to help clients take a holistic approach as she looks at each unique goal, strength, and need.

Gena empowers clients to control their lives through self-awareness and encourages lifestyle changes to improve physical and emotional health. She provides individualized treatment plans that are patient-centered and evidence-based approach for each client's needs, ensuring that the support they receive will benefit their mental health goals. During a session with Gena, she actively and empathetically listens to create a calm and safe space to get to know clients and their challenges. Nutritional and lifestyle psychiatry has impacted Gena's practice; she often stresses the importance of a well-balanced diet, mindful eating, exercising, and sleep. After a thorough assessment, Gena may recommend supplements or medication management if needed and educate on the treatment option's benefits and risks. Gena looks at the whole person, and clients could expect to receive therapeutic support and expert guidance on ways to improve and promote healing. Gena sees clients via telehealth, so some controlled substances are not prescribed, such as benzodiazepines (Xanax, Klonopin).

Gena is board certified and has extensive experience working with clients of all backgrounds and situations. She has a warm, approachable personality and strives to put all clients at ease throughout the session so they can feel comfortable talking about whatever is on their minds.

Message to clients

Welcome!

Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, focus, or inattention? Do you find it challenging to balance obligations and self-care, or are you unsure of what you are feeling but know you are experiencing discomfort, creating mental and physical dis-ease?

Such symptoms are signals that indicate imbalances that need to be corrected. Helping you balance obligations with self-care can help you create a healthier, more comfortable lifestyle. The path to optimal wellness is individualized care focusing on lifestyle changes and emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual imbalances. I work collaboratively with you to help transform your life by living a balanced and better one. My approach to restoring mental health combines behavioral lifestyle changes, conventional and integrative evidence-based practice.

At the end of your session, I have considered the best treatment options that will benefit you. Your care plan is individualized depending on your desires, goals, and struggles. I will provide mental health education and a healthier lifestyle approach.

Lastly, you could expect to build a therapeutic relationship with a provider who delivers compassionate, empathetic, respectful, and reliable care. I would love to assist you in making changes that last a lifetime!

If I can assist, the first step is to complete the New Patient prescreen and consent forms. Second, you will receive a call/email to schedule your appointment, an invite to your patient portal, and a link to the session. Third, you will meet your provider via secure, HIPAA-compliant audiovisual telehealth technology on your appointment day.
