Professional statement

Dr. Jamie Jewett (he/him) is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. As a trauma informed and gender affirming provider, Jamie is known for understanding his patient’s needs in a warm and compassionate way. His work is deeply rooted in thirty years of practice and study of formal mindfulness traditions, yoga, and a prior career as an artist and academic. He is further guided by the perspective inherent in the recovery process - which provides a holistic focus on people and their inherent sanity, and not just their symptoms. He embraces a focus on recovery and health as an often nonlinear journey. Jamie’s practice engages warmth, humor, and curiosity in creating a safe space where the power of vulnerability and genuineness can manifest change. Jamie has a passion for LGBTQ+ health. He understands that moments of transition in our lives - while often challenging - can provide doorways to more fulfilling lives. He is a strong advocate for his patients.

Jamie has worked across the lifespan with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in multiple acute-care inpatient, emergency, and outpatient environments. He attended the University of Rhode Island and the University of Connecticut for his nursing studies. His PhD and second Masters are from Brown University in addition to an MFA from OSU and a BA in Buddhist Philosophy and Dance from Naropa University.

“If we are willing to take an unbiased look, we will find that, in spite of all our problems and confusion, all our emotional and psychological ups and downs, there is something basically good about our existence as human beings.” — Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
