Professional statement

Dr. Joye Lewis is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in treating problems such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, psychosis, and post partum mood dysregulation. She is also Board-Certified in Family Practice. She manages the mental health care of children, teens and adults who are struggling each day, to be ok. Her approach to medical practice is to actively listen, provide acceptance and to offer a safe, non judgmental space for patients to seek help.

Dr Joye has been a prescriber since 2005. She offers assessment, diagnosis and medication management. She has worked with the homeless, those who are in the criminal justice system and with those in the in patient and out patient clinical settings.

Much of her treatment approach includes educating her patients about themselves and their diagnosis. Together, she and her patients are able to identify and put into place the best individualized treatment plan. Her experience has increased her awareness of the mental health struggles that plague individuals on a daily basis. From depression, anxiety, mood disorders and even psychosis, she is trained, experienced and eager to improve the lives of those who are struggling.

Dr Joye's practice is located in the Houston Texas area. She provides in person and remote appointments. Her goal is to provide a convenient, safe environment for which to treat her patients and improve their quality of life.

Message to clients

Please remember, you don't have to work so hard to be ok! Are you struggling with depression or anxiety? Is there mood dysregulation that you just don't understand? Is it time for medication management? Whether it is lack of knowledge, embarrassment, or misinformation, mental health is the topic many individuals and families would rather avoid. This leads to undiagnosed and untreated mental health struggles that can many times cause one to feel lost, invisible, alone, and unheard—but this does not have to be! Your mental health struggles no longer have to be the secret you keep hidden at all cost. Let me help.

I am board certified, trained and experienced in assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with a myriad of mental health conditions. After a thorough and precise evaluation, we will work together to develop and implement a plan that if needed, will include medication management.

I invite any one who is struggling, whose life's light has gone dim, to allow me to assess your unique situation. We will talk. I will listen. I will provide you with a supportive, non-judgmental environment to voice your struggles and your needs. We will work through this together.
