Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP Doctor of Nursing Practice, DNP Family Nurse Practitioner, FNPDr. Joye Lewis is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in treating problems such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, psychosis, and post partum mood dysregulation. She is also Board-Certified in Family Practice. She manages the mental health care of children, teens and adults who are struggling each day, to be ok. Her approach to medical practice is to actively listen, provide acceptance and to offer a safe, non judgmental space for patients to seek help.
Dr Joye has been a prescriber since 2005. She offers assessment, diagnosis and medication management. She has worked with the homeless, those who are in the criminal justice system and with those in the in patient and out patient clinical settings.
Much of her treatment approach includes educating her patients about themselves and their diagnosis. Together, she and her patients are able to identify and put into place the best individualized treatment plan. Her experience has increased her awareness of the mental health struggles that plague individuals on a daily basis. From depression, anxiety, mood disorders and even psychosis, she is trained, experienced and eager to improve the lives of those who are struggling.
Dr Joye's practice is located in the Houston Texas area. She provides in person and remote appointments. Her goal is to provide a convenient, safe environment for which to treat her patients and improve their quality of life.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Bipolar disorder - Developing coping and preventive strategies to stabilize extreme mood swings, including manic and depressive episodes; increasing effective strategies to regulate emotions and maintain a healthy daily routine
Borderline personality disorder - Increasing insight into relational patterns and destructive behaviors; development of coping strategies for uncomfortable emotions or situations; skills for emotional identification and regulation.
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Schizophrenia - Support monitoring and managing symptoms; building skills and supports to reduce and respond to stressors and sustain a balanced life
Mood disorders - Clinical depression, persistent depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders that cause disturbances in the client's mood, causing mood swings, restless sleep, and/or elevated mood
