Professional statement

Dr. English is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner as well as a licensed psychologist who offers online appointments to clients who live in the state of New York, are between the ages of 18 and 60 and are considering medication to help them manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, traumatic stress and attention deficits. She works with ALL clients but particularly people of color, those that identify as LGBTQ+ and those who are considering medication for the first time OR whose first experience with medication was less than ideal and want to give medication management another try.

Dr. English doesn’t focus on the diagnosis, but on the symptoms the client is experiencing, and how those symptoms are impacting the way the client feels and functions in their career, relationships and other areas of their life

Medication can be very helpful in reducing/eliminating those symptoms but other factors play a role as well. To that end Dr. English also stresses the importance of sleep, nutrition, exercise, healthy relationships, healthy thinking habits, and therapy (if needed) among other factors.

Ultimately, it’s not just about reduction of symptoms but overall mental health, wellness and quality of life.

Message to clients

Starting medication may be new to you, it may seem scary, or you may have had negative prior experiences. It’s so important to find someone who is patient and takes the time to learn what you’re experiencing and how it is impacting you. Dr English will explain what medication can and cannot do, what to expect, explain any potential adverse effects and answer all your questions.

The decision to start medication doesn't have to be made immediately after the initial assessment. Take the time you need (days, weeks, months) to decide how or whether or not you want to proceed.

Feel free to message me with any questions and/or to schedule an appointment.

Please note I do NOT provide psychotherapy.
