Susie Draighan is a Board Certified Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner located in RI. Susie works with adults and young adults who would like additional support in coping with the immense challenges that come with major life transitions, career stress, fertility or postpartum struggles, and more. Many of Susie’s clients find themselves distressed by the contents of their thoughts, which may include impulses to complete erratic behaviors or harsh self-criticism that leaves them with low self-esteem. Susie has experience working with those who have chronic mental health conditions and challenges with addiction.
Susie aims to provide each one of her clients with compassionate care that avoids pathologizing them - she understands that the people that she works with aren’t their diagnoses. She uses an integrated behavioral approach with her clients, taking a holistic perspective to fully understand what’s happening in their lives. Her care plans may include medication that can decrease mental health symptoms, which can give her clients the mental and emotional space they need to address other challenges in their lives. She focuses on empowering her clients so they feel like they have the resilience to handle any situation that comes their way. Susie then provides medication management services to ensure that the client’s medication continues to support their mental health without too many side effects.
Susie earned a Master’s degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. She gained additional training through a fellowship that focused on primary care settings, and holds a certification in perinatal mental health. She also has experience working with adults with chronic psychiatric disorders, postpartum disorders, and integrated care. Working with Susie means finding a safe and welcoming environment and a provider who continuously supports clients towards reaching their goals.
