Yahaya Animashaun is a Board-Certified Advanced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner located in Blackwood, NJ. He works with children, teenagers, young adults, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or substance abuse. For these clients, their mental health interrupts their ability to lead productive, connected lives. Yahaya’s approach to therapy is evidence-based, which means that he utilizes approaches that have research pointing towards its effectiveness. He often works with clients’ primary care doctors or other specialists to provide comprehensive healthcare that can keep them healthy. Yahaya also offers Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in his practice. 


Yahaya has over 25 years of experience in the field of psychiatric nursing, helping numerous clients through mental health crises in both short term and long term settings. ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure

Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation

Child mental health - Specialized strategies for common childhood disorders including attention issues, attachment problems, behavioral disorders, learning disorders, autism spectrum diagnoses, and feeding or elimination issues.

Schizophrenia - Support monitoring and managing symptoms; building skills and supports to reduce and respond to stressors and sustain a balanced life
