Professional statement

Dr. Efraim Keisari is a Psychiatrist located in Plainview, NY. Dr. Keisari draws upon his expertise in mental health as he collaborates with clients that face difficulties from depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, or phobias. He also works with clients that have trouble with insomnia, as well as those who feel overwhelmed by the stress in their lives from work, relationships, and navigating change.

Dr. Keisari begins each therapeutic relationship by getting to know the individual, including information about their background and their current issues with their mental health. From this understanding, he partners with his clients to develop an individualized treatment plan. When appropriate, this plan may include medication to help with the patient’s symptoms. Dr. Keisari then checks in regularly with his patients to see how treatment is going and whether or not there needs to be adjustments made. He may also encourage patients to adjust their routines with exercise and diet to promote healthy living.

Dr. Keisari earned his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he served as a Chief Resident. Dr. Keisari received additional training at Brown University in Forensic Psychiatry. He is passionate about tailoring effective, individualized treatment plans for all of his patients so they can reach their mental health goals and live fulfilling lives.

Message to clients

Asking for help can be hard. Finding the right psychiatrist for you can be hard. As a board certified psychiatrist with a small patient-centered practice, I strive to create a personalized and thoughtful experience for you. I treat adults of all ages with a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and various phobias. We can address issues such as sleeping difficulties (insomnia), relationship challenges, work stress, and life stage transitions.

As we work together, I will strive to get to know you as a person and understand who you are as an individual. At the end of your first session, we will discuss treatment recommendations and collaborate to form an action plan to meet your needs.

Recommendations take into account a multitude of factors and may include changes to your diet or exercise regimen, talk therapy, prescription medications, lab tests, or referrals to other doctors as appropriate.

Feel free to contact me directly to schedule a 10 minute no-cost initial phone consultation.

Therapist's note

At this time, I do not accept insurance at my practice. Oftentimes, insurance companies create significant barriers to care that can affect our therapeutic relationship. By not taking insurance, I am able to offer a superior level of care and attention to my patients. That means no constraints in terms of the duration and frequency of appointments, and flexibility to create an individualized treatment plan that will best suit your needs. In addition, by not submitting claims to your insurance company, your care remains completely private.

If you have out-of-network benefits, you are welcome to submit claims to your insurance company. Many patients are able to receive partial or full reimbursements, depending on your specific out-of-network benefits. I can provide you with an invoice (a "superbill") to help with this process.
