Professional statement

Dr. Grewal is a double board certified adult psychiatrist who attended medical school in Detroit, MI and completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Michigan. After residency, she completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio under the renowned Dr. Phillip Resnick. She enjoys the balance of working in a clinic and performing forensic evaluations.

Dr. Grewal enjoys working with many different types of patients and has worked in many settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, jails, and prisons. Her work in the prison system has taught her that, no matter our external circumstances, we cultivate our greatest capacity for growth when our needs, emotions, and desires as human beings are addressed.

Dr. Grewal's breadth of experience has taught her one overarching lesson: the pain we experience in our lives, left untouched, is carried with us daily. Whether it stops us from feeling happy in our current relationships, prevents us from forming new relationships, or keeps us stagnant in a dissatisfying pattern, it is not until the pain is dealt with appropriately that we can heal and start in a new direction. Her approach to treatment is driven by the philosophy that your life story is a critical part of your treatment. She looks forward to hearing your story when you are ready to share it.

Dr. Grewal is currently seeing patients in Colorado exclusively over tele-health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Message to clients

After years of working in psychiatry, often in close conjunction with medical providers and clinicians in inpatient and correctional settings, I sought to establish private practice as a new avenue for people ready for change. Anyone who has gone through the trouble to seek out this profile has felt within them the desire to forge a new path in their future - whether that involves minor changes to feel more fulfilled or major changes to more dramatically alter their life trajectory. I admire the courage it takes for anyone to seek mental health care, and I seek to embrace that courage with a warm, welcoming, and accepting space in which we explore the ways patients can achieve their goals.

As the wellness industry expands rapidly, the role of trained mental health professionals is increasingly critical. However, while access to therapeutic spaces is increasing, the amount of thoughtful, skilled mental health care providers in those spaces is not similarly increasing. The purpose of my practice is to enable patients to reach beyond superficial changes that provide temporary relief, and to start exploring the core conflicts we struggle with as individuals. I firmly believe that with patience and commitment to this exploration, patients will find lasting improvement in their quality of life and emotional fulfillment.
