Professional statement

Dr. Matthew Lahaie ("la-HAY") is a Licensed and Board Certified Psychiatrist located in Westwood, MA. Dr. Lahaie supports children, adolescents, and adults to cope with mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and more. Many of his clients seek the care of a psychiatrist to manage their symptoms, which can look like panic attacks, difficulty getting out of bed, ideas of self-harm, trouble focusing, conflicts with loved ones, or overwhelming stress. Dr. Lahaie helps his clients to find ways to cope with their distress and lead meaningful, productive lives.

Dr. Lahaie strives to create a safe, comfortable atmosphere where clients can open up about how they feel. He draws from multiple therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Supportive Psychotherapy. When appropriate, he prescribes medications to help with symptom management. By regularly meeting with his clients, he adjusts these medications so that clients avoid distracting side effects and find a greater sense of balance in their thoughts and feelings.

Dr. Lahaie earned his MD from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He also holds a JD from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Dr. Lahaie has extensive experience across a wide range of mental health settings and uses this expertise to bring compassionate, comprehensive care to all of his clients.

In working with clients, I do my best to be very respectful of people. I understand coming into treatment is often very difficult and is often occurring at a very difficult time.
