Dr. Stafford is double board certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, which gives her the training and expertise to treat patients from early childhood through adulthood.
She received her M.D. at Michigan State University where she earned honors in Psychiatry, and gained additional clinical psychiatric experience at the famed Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Her adult psychiatry training was completed at the University of Massachusetts where she served as the Chief Resident in Psychopharmacology as well as the Chief Resident for the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Service. Her child and adolescent psychiatry training was completed at Brown University with a subspecialty focus in treating children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities, with additional subspecialty interest in treating Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders. Dr. Stafford also has considerable experience in treating children, adolescents and young adults with anxiety disorders, ADHD and mood disorders, and enjoys evaluating and treating patients from all backgrounds with a combination of medication management and/or psychotherapy targeting a wide variety of general psychiatric concerns.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) - Reducing unwanted intrusive thoughts and rituals by gradually building comfort and confidence facing difficult fears, thoughts, and emotions
Child mental health - Specialized strategies for common childhood disorders including attention issues, attachment problems, behavioral disorders, learning disorders, autism spectrum diagnoses, and feeding or elimination issues.
Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation
College & graduate student mental health - Specialized strategies for common issues of young adulthood, including school and career stressors, support around healthy relationships, existential concerns, drug or alcohol issues, eating disorders, and anxiety and/or depression.
Women's issues - Therapy tailored to common concerns among women; providing a safe and understanding space to address life challenges, stressors, and questions around identity as a woman
