Professional statement

Dr. Rahim Rahemtulla is an Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist in the Flatiron District of New York. He specializes in medication management for anxiety, depression, and ADHD. He also has extensive experience working with adults who are navigating adjusting to the city or work/school challenges, including starting college or entering the working world.

The majority of Dr. Rahemtulla’s work is medication management. In addition, his patients are either in psychotherapy with him or an outside therapist who he works in collaboration with. He spends time getting to know his patients and helping them develop healthy coping strategies or removing stressors before discussing medication options. His sessions are goal-oriented and patient-led, and he frequently checks in with them to ensure treatment is effective.

Dr. Rahemtulla deeply cares about his patients and wants them to reach their goals and lead the life they envision. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine and Per Diem Attending Physician at Lincoln Hospital and Mental Health Center in the Department of Psychiatric Emergency Services. He received his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine.

Message to clients

Just as every individual is unique, so is their treatment. So it is my job to create a meaningful and appropriate treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. My approach to medicine is thoughtful and cautious; I will suggest the need for medication, but only when necessary and appropriate. I also value psychotherapy, and view it as a deeply personal, individualized, and dynamic process. Therapy is a place to share, unburden, and grow. By sharing my understanding of your concerns with empathy and respect, I hope to help you find insight into and relief from your adversities, and enhance your personal life so you may achieve healthier relationships with yourself and others.
