Adult Psychiatrist, MDDr. Patel is a Harvard-trained adult psychiatrist based in Washington DC. She provides evidence-based medication management for adults and specializes in treating anxiety and depression. Through her upbringing in rural Kentucky and travels to India, she came to realize the worldwide need for accessible mental health care. She has a passion for helping to improve healthcare delivery systems to underserved areas through telepsychiatry. This interest led her to complete a fellowship in Integrated Care at the University of Washington, in which she worked on improving mental health services in a rural area of Washington state via collaboration with primary care.
Her approach with clients is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. She offers the convenience of virtual appointments and has clinical experience in serving clients through telemedicine for the past 5 years.
Of note, due to federal regulations for prescribing of controlled substances over telemedicine (Ryan Haight Act), Dr. Patel does not prescribe any controlled medications at this time (examples include Ritalin, Xanax, and Ambien).
