Professional statement

Abby Plusen is a Licensed Master Social Worker and Master Certified Life Coach based in Catonsville, Maryland. Abby works with folks who are experiencing life's transitions; she is particularly sensitive to deeply feeling empaths who are struggling to find their way through periods of unrest, general anxiety, and stress.

Abby has experienced tremendous growth and breakthroughs with clients using a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Healing, and Mindfulness. She works with clients to shift their perspectives and stories they tell about themselves in order to co-create a calm, conscious, and fully actualized clients.

Therapists focus on “why” certain behavioral patterns occur, and coaches work on “how” to work toward a goal. As a licensed therapist and coach, Abby will work with you in a compassionate and non-judgmental way to explore how your past affects your present and focus on "the work" to actualize your present goals.

Abby is available in-person sessions at the Catonsville Counseling Center and on-line for remote sessions using zoom.

Message to clients

I believe we are all just the stories we tell ourselves. There is nothing good or bad about this – it is just how we craft and make sense of our life. You and I may have the same exact experience of something, and you may hear, notice, and even value things I had not. If we are made up of our stories and our stories are extremely subjective, how do we make good sense of the world around us? You have all the answers inside you. As a holistic and integrative therapist and coach, I will guide you toward a balanced understanding of how your past directly affects your present and we will set goals for the future. You can find a regenerative and centered place of peace. The shift from feeling insidiously stressed, resentful, and generally chaotic to balanced, grounded, and joyful is attainable if you commit to the work. Real and lasting change occurs in tiny increments. Small daily practices can positively shift your relationship with others and more importantly, with yourself.
