Professional statement

Dr. Kunemund works with women to discover the joy, empowerment, and connection for which they have been searching. She provides therapy for women struggling with: stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, dating difficulties, parenting/motherhood, marriage, life transitions, grief, self-confidence, differing ability status, and adult ADHD. Dr. Kunemund identifies as a lesbian and often works with women who identify as lesbian/queer and with non-binary folks.

Many of her clients find themselves struggling to balance their professional and personal lives while also nurturing relationships. They face difficulties with feeling heard and supported and with effectively expressing their own needs. This can lead to feelings of frustration or loneliness and a lack of fulfillment. Dr. Kunemund guides women through these challenges, empowering them to recognize and address their unmet needs.

She works closely with her clients, valuing the balance between her professional insight and the client's own understanding of themselves. She believes being open and forming a real connection with her clients is key to fostering a strong therapeutic relationship that promotes genuine healing and personal growth. She trusts a woman has her own unique answers within herself and that her role is to help women find those answers to make real change.

Dr. Kunemund employs a feminist and multicultural approach to support her clients, acknowledging the intricate tapestry of their backgrounds, family dynamics, cultural affiliations, identities, and values. With this conviction at the core of her practice, she advocates for a holistic approach to healing—one that not only delves into the individual's internal struggles but also acknowledges the societal, political, cultural, and familial forces that mold their experiences. By recognizing the interconnectedness between our outer reality and inner landscape, Dr. Kunemund underscores the necessity of integrating these external influences into the therapeutic journey, facilitating a comprehensive path towards growth, resilience, and self-actualization.
