Licensed Associate Counselor, LAC Practice: Resilience Lab Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsMy core counseling styles revolve around existential counseling, person centered care, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and solution focused brief therapy.
Existential Counseling presumes that individuals can increase their life satisfaction by identifying what brings them personal meaning and importance. Rooted in existential psychology is logotherapy, which literally translates to healing through meaning. I focus on personal meaning making activities, freedom of choice and responsibility, changing perspective or paradigm shifting, and self-transcendence through identifying life importance.
Person Centered Care asserts that I will work to be my most authentic true self in session. The person centered counselor works to establish accurate empathy or a whole-heartedly truthful attempt at understanding the nature of one's condition. This also means that I will do my best to experience feeling closely what the client is feeling. Lastly, unconditional positive regard notes that the counselor is nonjudgmental and accepts clients unconditionally or without conditions of worth.
The Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapist identifies emotions as regular and natural occurrences that happen to us temporarily and for a given purpose. They are not permanent or inherent character defects that diminish our humanity but more so, emotions are temporary visitors that come to join us for a specific purpose. The REBT therapist works towards helping clients identify discrepancies in their beliefs about livelihood. They use cognitive distortions and a technique called disputing irrational beliefs to help people lessen the emotional tone or impact that veils the situation they are dealing with. This approach revolves highly around shifting perspective.
Lastly, Solution Focused Brief Therapy means that I will focus strategically on questions and solutions that help people achieve a given outcome.
