Mental Health Counselor - Limited Permit, MHC-LP Practice: Resilience LabAlex’s work is focused on promoting the mental health and well-being of young adults and adults. She has clinical experience working with a wide range of clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, sexual and emotional trauma, low self-esteem, body image, and family/intimate relationship issues. She is passionate about helping clients get curious about their needs and get more out of their lives.
Alex’s approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, which emphasizes understanding the impact our past has on our present behavior. She works to help clients build insight and move from self-criticism towards self-compassion and acceptance. In working with her, she aims to help her clients foster a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. Her experience in other modes of therapy like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness practices allows her to tailor treatment to fit each individual's needs.
The foundation of Alex’s work with clients is the therapeutic relationship. She strives to create a space where her clients feel seen, understood, and free from judgement. Safety and connection is paramount in order to begin the work of therapy. From there, her focus shifts to helping her clients identify patterns and ways of thinking that may be preventing them from growing into their most authentic selves. She believes that connecting those patterns to earlier experiences empowers her clients to make choices that better align with their goals and values.
