Alex provides therapy to folks in Rhode Island and Massachusetts both virtually and in person. Many of Alex’s clients are those who are struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, life meaning & purpose questions, life transitions (internal or external), relationship challenges, or issues that appear to be related to childhood trauma or hardship.
Alex’s clients tend to be those looking for ‘something deeper’. They are curious about what lies beneath understanding themselves solely through an intellectual perspective. Alex supports her clients in moving from a place of self analysis to a place of embodied knowing and understanding by infusing traditional talk therapy with concepts and practices rooted in archetypal & depth psychology as well as spiritual philosophy.
Alex believes that her clients are the experts of their lives but also that they hold a unique wisdom that can support them in navigating their current challenges. With this being said, she also understands that sometimes we need a guide to see our blind spots, offer alternatives, share techniques and practices, and to support us through challenges, setbacks, and painful moments.
Alex’s approach is eclectic and holistic. She believes that the healing and transformation process is one to be tended to and nurtured opposed to problem-focused and fast-tracked.
Alex uses internal family systems therapy (IFS) to support her clients in getting to know and building a relationship with aspects of themselves that are in pain, creating distress, or have been pushed aside. She also uses mindfulness-based CBT and ACT to support clients in increasing their understanding of their thoughts and their emotions. And lastly she uses guided imagery, creativity, and philosophical/existential principles to support clients in accessing deeper understandings of their experiences and the world around them in hopes of fostering a greater sense of purpose and connection.
