Alex is a Mental Health Therapist in the Twin Cities, MN. He works with adults and couples impacted by trauma, including medical diagnosis, caregiving, grief and loss, and faith conflicts. Many of Alex’s clients come in when the challenge of life hit and they find themselves trying to navigate their new realities. Alex is particularly passionate about serving those impacted by medical diagnosis and treatment, caregivers, and those who are working through faith conflicts (deconstruction, religious trauma, or LGBTQ+ issues). They also have advanced training in Trauma and Couples work. Alex has also worked in various medical settings as a Clinical Social Worker.
Alex is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which focuses on the variables that contribute to human suffering versus flourishing. In session, Alex focuses on cultivating psychological flexibility with his clients. This approach supports clients to reconnect to and live a life in accordance with their own values. Additionally, Alex is trained in Brainspotting, a form of trauma therapy that uses the mind-body connection to identify where traumatic memories are stored in the mind and resolve the pain that is held there. This allows people to move past any barriers that hold them back from a full life.
Alex's style is warm, compassionate, and validating. When a client first comes in, we identify your specific goals for therapy and create a plan to achieve those goals together. Alex is dedicated to providing a relationship that is secure and empowering.
Alex received his Master of Social Work Degree from Florida State University in 2017. He gained experience at Moffitt Cancer Center and various mental health clinics which enables him to bridge the gap between navigating medical and mental health concerns. Outside of private practice, he enjoys reading, writing, and exploring various coffee shops around the cities.
