Alexandra Bennett is a licensed psychotherapist based in New York who works with children, adolescents and young adults. After graduating from New York University, she worked at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn with children and adolescents with a variety of mental health diagnoses. Her area of expertise include anxiety, depression, athlete mental health trauma and ADHD. She utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach to assist clients in recognizing and adapting negative thought patterns to facilitate change. Alexandra creates a warm, trusting environment for clients to feel both supported and challenged in sessions. Alexandra has received extensive training in a variety of modalities including DBT, CBT, SPACE and play therapy.

For younger clients, Alexandra utilizes play-based approaches in addition to talk therapy. She collaborates closely with schools and other providers to ensure support for a child or adolescent across settings. Additionally, Alexandra work with families to assist in parent coaching and developing skills to support their children at home. She is trained in SPACE treatment, which works with parents to target accommodations that may be reinforcing a child's anxiety.

In addition to her work in private practice, she is the lower school counselor at the Windward School where she works with children with language-based learning disabilities. Alexandra works both in person on the Upper East Side and virtually.

We work together as a team to help your child make meaningful progress. As a provider, I give children and adolescents specific skills to work on and practice at home.
