Professional statement

Alexandra believes that respecting and honoring the humanity in each person she sees is of the utmost importance to therapy. She specializes in helping people regarding adoption, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. She has extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, one of only two evidence based couple’s therapies. She applies Emotionally Focused therapy in her work with couples and adults, as well as other evidence-based modalities.

Her education, training and personal adoption experience, makes her uniquely qualified to work with members of the adoption constellation. If you’re a couple wanting to adopt, have adopted children, or are an adoptee/ foster youth yourself—she can help.

Message to clients

Out of all the tragedies happening in our world, one thing I greatly appreciate about this day in age is our collective cultural shift in viewing inclusivity, sensitivity, and mental health as a priority. I feel extremely honored to be part of that shift, where I have the privilege of helping people heal.

My hope for the people I see is that you are able to be fully authentic in who you are, integrating all parts of you; even the aspects that are hard to accept. My hope for you in our work together is that we can collaboratively equip you with the tools and support you need to embrace and pursue what matters to you, and live a life of meaning, fulfillment and joy—even with the suffering that is part of the journey.

Adoption & foster care - Support around pre- and post-adoption challenges including family dynamics, challenging behaviors, attachment issues, and navigation of the child welfare system or adoption agencies

Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Chronic pain - Managing the biological, psychological, and emotional aspects of pain

Couples counseling - Addressing relationship challenges and life transitions; strengthening communication and feelings of security, desire, connection, and love

Panic attacks / panic disorder - Brief, intense periods of overwhelming fear or anxiety

Sensitivity - Developing an understanding of one’s sensitivity, including exploring what triggers emotional reactions and the origins of the sensitivity; practicing self-compassion by acknowledging that everyone has emotions and it’s natural to react to what’s around you
