Professional statement

Alexandra is a licensed mental health counselor in New York State with 8+ years of experience in the mental health field. Her background involves working in crisis intervention, community mental health, intensive outpatient treatment, employee assistance programs, wellness coaching, and leadership roles. Among the therapeutic theories she draws from are cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, solution focused, and existential therapies.

Alexandra works with the adult population for individual counseling and only offers remote telehealth services via phone or video sessions.

Alexandra is a strength based therapist who balances validation of your lived experience with psychoeducation and challenges to support growth. Her approach as a therapist is a mix of curiosity, collaboration, and humor. As a therapist, her role is to facilitate psychological safety in a judgment free zone.

Alexandra's approach as a therapy is psychodynamic. Alexandra's experience as a therapist has taught her that many people repeat the same patterns over and over in their lives, with details such as the characters, settings, and storyline changing while the deep-rooted emotional needs remain unresolved. In working together you will notice she will explore themes that arise as the therapeutic relationship grows with a committed focus on empowering you.

Message to clients

During an intake process, I will ask about what led you to seek therapy to gain understanding of what your day to day entails while also exploring your goals. I believe whatever is going on in this moment deserves to be recognized and addressed as a starting point. As we build rapport in working together, we will explore more of your life story to see how it connects to present day.

I have experience conducting therapy in a variety of settings and regardless of the environment, I have always been drawn to the shared human experiences that unfold in these interactions. I believe that empathy is a superpower to cultivating understanding in ourselves and one another. I consider it an honor to be a therapist and hold space for other people to share their stories. I approach the therapeutic alliance with curiosity, humor, and openness and hope you may be willing to do the same!
