Professional statement

Alexis Lyon is a Licensed Therapist (LMFT) who works with clients who want to learn how to trust themselves. Alexis specializes in merging somatic and nature-based healing (ecotherapy) so that clients can connect authentically with their experience and live their lives deeply guided by their own wisdom and knowing.

Alexis' therapeutic approach is growth-oriented and focuses on integration of the body, mind and spirit. Her holistic orientation allows her to see her clients as fundamentally loveable and whole and not the sum of their problems and trauma. By prioritizing nervous system regulation, clients are safe and encouraged to learn and grow in ways that may have felt previously unattainable.

Alexis spent close to two decades working as a therapist with foster care youth. These youth taught Alexis about the innate resilience and courage that is available within all of us when we are met with unconditional acceptance, kindness, curiosity and respect. Alexis draws upon that experience to solidify her faith in people of all ages and backgrounds to overcome their challenges when given the opportunity to do so. For the last 20 years, it has been Alexis' privilege and delight to see what is possible when people commit to their healing and growth within a therapeutic relationship and uncover and embrace their true self.

Sessions can take place in the Oakland office space, in the comfort of the client's home (in-person or telehealth), and/or in an outdoor location. Alexis is open to exploring places in nature that comfort and inspire a client, as well as offering her own suggestions for session settings.

Message to clients

Hello! I imagine you may be reading this because there are changes you would like to see happen in your life for yourself and/or your loved ones. Whether you desire to embark as a couple, individual, family, group, or to be the bridge for your children in therapy, I welcome you and I honor you.

My intention is to provide a safe nonjudgmental space for you to show up just as you are however you are, each time we meet. Life is not easy, but we all deserve to relax into knowing that we don't have to do it alone. It is my sincere hope for you that you cultivate joy in self-discovery and learn to love all parts of your experience into the truest, most authentic version of yourself.

There are many life junctures that bring someone into therapy and all are valid and deserving of attention and care. I would love to speak with you to determine how I might be able to help you. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my treatment approach and modalities. To get started, I offer a free of charge consultation lasting 15-30 minutes so we can determine goodness of fit. I look forward to speaking with you!
