Professional statement

Dr. Alicia Enciso Litschi is a counseling psychologist who has devoted the last 15 years to exploring ways to decolonize the practice of Western psychotherapy. For Alicia, this has meant integrating the tools of Western psychotherapy with an Earth-centered, kinship worldview that is often more congruent with Indigenous ways of knowing and cultures that make up the world's global majority. Alicia has been mentored and guided by community healers, curanderes, teachers, and activists who taught her the power of healing from the ground up.

Alicia is a great fit for clients who are interested in deepening their exploration of their path and purpose; clients who want to explore outside the box; and people who are interested in a spiritual and soulful approach to therapy.

Alicia is informed by attachment- and somatic-approaches to psychotherapy, including interpersonal neurobiology, AEDP, polyvagal theory, and generative trance. These serve as helpful tools for somatic awareness, groundedness, and sustainable pacing for change. All of this provides a foundation for "generative listening." Most people come to therapy having thought through the myriad dilemmas, solutions, and pros and cons of their situations; yet they are still stuck. Generative listening is a practice of slowing down, pausing in the unknown, and making space for different ways of knowing--embodied, soulful, and earth-connected ways of knowing.

Dr. Enciso Litschi welcomes the fullness of your being into the healing process, including identities, histories, contexts, experiences that dynamically contribute to the ground of your being. Alicia has a long history of working with BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
