Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW Master of Social Work, MSWShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW Master of Social Work, MSWAlison Heuberger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Brooklyn, NY with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Alison works with those who struggle with the impacts of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, Tourette’s Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorders. In treatment she finds many of her clients struggle with feelings of poor self worth so she works through a strength based and solution focused lens to help increase their confidence so they can feel more empowered across multiple settings including relationships, school and self worth.
Alison encourages clients to be introspective, gently prompting them to reflect on memories of their upbringing and their inner beliefs about the ways that they want their lives to function. Through psychodynamic therapy, her clients learn more about themselves and what motivates them. Alison also teaches clients skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) so they can reframe negative thought patterns, including self-criticism by examining their thoughts, beliefs and interpretations of events that cause intense and often unwanted feelings. Alison's clients are introduced to various methods to alter unhealthy thought patterns, resulting in an improved mood and healthier lifestyle. She creates a safe, comfortable environment in each session, put's forth empathy and understanding and uses her real life experiences for validation where appropriate.
Alison earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University. She has worked in many different settings, including hospitals, emergency rooms, as a psychotherapist, and currently she has been working for the Board of Education for over 15 years.
