Professional statement

Are your relationships challenging, confusing, or conflictual? Do you struggle with a sense of unworthiness? Are you anxious and lost in the face of strong emotions and overwhelming thoughts? Do you long for an inner source of compassion and acceptance? If so, you don’t have to struggle alone.

Alison Machabee specializes in working holistically with individuals and couples facing relationship challenges, complex trauma, and mood disorders. She is warm, centered, and practical, collaborating with clients to map their histories and empower them to build an inner sense of safety that serves as the foundation for change and growth. She uses an integrative approach that is tailored to each client and centers cultural humility and equality.

Alison holds a Masters degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Antioch University New England with a certificate in Trauma-Informed Practice. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Advanced Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and The Gottman Method. She was an AAMFT Minority Fellow in 2021-2022. She is also a certified yoga, Pilates, and mindfulness instructor.

Message to clients

Ancient wisdom says that any wound can be healed through Earth’s loving elements of light and air. In my book, good therapy is no different: with a therapeutic relationship founded on empathy, respect, and care, we will begin to understand your struggles clearly, get space around them, and take wise action to heal and grow.

In our work together, we will simultaneously explore your history while grounding ourselves in the present; examine what is not working while highlighting what is; hold tender care for your struggles while remaining fiercely determined to change; and accept reality while planning for a better future. I can't wait to get started.
