Professional statement
Allegra Magrisso is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Evanston, IL. She welcomes a wide range of clients to her practice, including individual adults, couples, and children ages 12 and up. She especially enjoys working with teenagers and young adults who are trying to find their place in the world.
Many of Allegra’s clients are women navigating a major life transition, including becoming caregivers or parents, or re-entering into the workforce. She also has extensive experience working with parents and grandparents who need help navigating their relationship with their children, as well as general anxiety, depression, and self-awareness. When working with couples, she frequently helps them improve their communication and learn how to navigate the stress of daily life together.
Allegra takes an individualized approach that takes into account a client’s experiences and goals. She spends time understanding how her clients’ symptoms present themselves and works holistically to treat them as a whole. Uniquely, Allegra has a sand tray and shelves full of miniatures in her office that she frequently uses with her clients. She asks them to take a look at the shelves and pick out any miniatures that they can then use to make a sand world in the sand tray. This activity can help individuals access their unconscious thoughts and become more connected with themselves and their emotions.
Allegra is passionate about the work she does and has over 40 years of experience. Outside of private practice, she works as a therapist at Refugee One. She looks forward to meeting you at her office, conveniently located within walking distance from the Metra and purple line via Central Street.
