Professional statement

Amanda Gonyer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Northern California. She is a dedicated therapist who creates a compassionate and non-judgmental space for individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, spirituality, generational trauma, and self-discovery. Amanda specializes in working with culturally diverse clients, including the Latinx community, creatives, and those seeking deeper healing. She understands the complexities of identity, belonging, and the emotional weight of breaking cycles, helping clients reconnect with their authentic selves in a way that feels both empowering and expansive.

Her therapy approach is integrative and client-centered, blending evidence-based modalities with holistic and creative techniques. She draws from Attachment-Based Therapy, Jungian psychology, Internal Family Systems, Decolonizing Therapy, and Psychoanalytic perspectives, while also incorporating inner child work and expressive arts. Amanda integrates mindfulness and somatic awareness to help clients understand the connection between mind and body, recognizing that healing is not just about processing emotions but also about cultivating safety within the nervous system. She believes therapy is a collaborative process, guiding clients toward deeper self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.

Message to clients

Are you going through a difficult transition in your life? Is your anxiety taking over and preventing you from getting things done or impacting your relationships? Would you like to improve your self-esteem, sense of identity, or learn some new coping skills? Are you exploring your spirituality and trying to figure out how to incorporate it into your life? If this sounds like you, I would love to help! I am passionate about helping adults overcome anxiety, life transitions, spiritual issues and generational trauma to become their most aligned selves.

In my five years of working with clients, I noticed what is the most helpful is showing up as my authentic self to session. That means who I am outside of session is exactly how I am in session. I use humor, I cuss right with you (only if you cuss of course), and try to keep it real. I want to create a warm, safe, accepting space where you feel you can be your authentic self. The best way to do this? Modeling just that.

If this speaks to you, I would be honored to join you on your healing journey! Please reach out for a free 15 minute consultation to see if I am a good fit for you.
