Amanda VanHorne is a Licensed Clinical Counselor based in Toledo, OH, who works with individuals and couples, focusing on adverse sexual experiences and alternative sexual lifestyles. Many of her clients have found themselves at a point where they want connection, but struggle to feel connected in their relationships or at peace in their sexual lives. Amanda is particularly sensitive to clients facing sexual pain, erectile dysfunction, low sexual interest, desire discrepancy in their relationships, or sexual trauma, and can help the client navigate the symptoms of anxiety, depression, or self-doubt that can accompany these experiences.
Amanda uses evidence-based approaches, derived from sex therapy research that focus on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact their ability to connect with others and build meaningful relationships. This desire to connect often leads to internal conflict, self-doubt or other emotions. Amanda focuses on helping clients understand their internal response to external stressors and works with them to develop strategies for navigating these situations.
Amanda is a very relaxed and personable individual who welcomes all clients with open curiosity and acceptance. She approaches clients in a supportive, non-judgmental way that encourages communication and builds confidence in the therapeutic process. She is equipped to help clients through various life struggles and challenges, and she is also a sexual trauma-informed therapist. Her focus is her clients’ wellbeing and enabling them to overcome their adversity and move on to better lives.
Amanda is an effective and experienced telehealth provider who feels confident in her ability to provide excellent care for clients through online sessions. She believes that making therapy accessible and convenient without compromising effectiveness is critical for those with busy lives or for those who are unable or uncomfortable with in-person sessions.
