Amber Johnson (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois. With 7 years of professional work experience, Amber has worked with clients across the lifespan bring 7 years of professional work experience, working with clients across the life cycle and with a variety of needs such as: healing from trauma, navigating life transitions, adjusting to parenthood, coping with grief/loss, and addressing race related issues.
As a wife, Mom and therapist, Amber understands how scary and lonely the transition into motherhood can be. She is passionate about working with moms who may be struggling to adjust to their new role and care for themselves. She approaches the therapeutic space with compassionate individualized care and believes in identifying and building upon each clients' strengths to help them step more fully into their lives.
Prior to founding ADJ Counseling and Wellness in May 2022, Amber worked in a variety of mental health and health care settings. In those settings Amber gathered the skills needed to support women who may have experienced loss, struggled to conceive, or had a difficult time reconnecting with themselves after starting a family. Understanding the many demands that life places on us all, Amber created a ADJ Counseling and Wellness with busy Moms in mind. ADJ is a fully remote practice, making therapy more accessible to all in need of a compassionate space to grow!

Postpartum depression - Coping with persistent feelings of sadness, exhaustion, and/or being overwhelmed after the birth of a child; developing strategies for more positive thought patterns and behaviors.
Pregnancy, perinatal, postpartum mental health - Addressing issues specific to women and families during the pregnancy and postpartum period, including postpartum depression and anxiety
Transition to new parenthood - Working with parents as they adjust to new parenthood
Childhood trauma - Learning how traumatic events in childhood can translate into adulthood; processing through difficult memories with the goal of moving past the experience and lingering symptoms
