Andra is a clinical therapist (LCSW) and is fully licensed in the states of Texas and California. Her practice focuses on treating young children, and offers support to their parents/caregivers via therapy or consultation. Children have been an integral part of her life since meeting her baby sister at 5 years old and opening her own thriving babysitting business when she was 12. Her love of children brought her through the field of teaching and ultimately to the field of mental health where she is honored to join families as they journey through challenging behaviors in their effort to increase their sense of understanding, connection, and delight.
Andra works with children who experience anxiety, depression, aggression, trauma symptoms, attention challenges, hyperactivity, impulsivity, sensory processing issues, social challenges, adjustment challenges, attachment issues, and who have experienced trauma or prenatal exposure to alcohol. She is one of 14 providers in all of Texas trained in an evidence-based practice called Child-Parent Psychotherapy designed to treat children ages 0-5 who have experienced trauma. She is one of a handful of providers trained in a promising-practice called Families Moving Forward to help support caregivers of children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. She is also at the tail-end of the process of becoming a Registered Play Therapist, having completed all of the training and supervision required.
Andra’s approach is child-centered, honoring and enjoying children as they currently are which creates a safe space for them to develop into their most healthy selves. She strives to support each family’s unique values, as she is entrusted with their children. She incorporates sign language to facilitate communication, when appropriate. She works with children using their first language - which is play!
