Andrew Bell is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Kansas City who helps individuals aged 20+ find wholeness and flourishing by experientially moving through difficult old experiences and finding something new on the other side. Many of Andrew's clients are mentally sharp, high-functioning achievers, including entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, and ministers, whose emotions sometimes feel chaotic or robotic. Anxiety, stress, panic, depression, and angry outbursts bring clients to Andrew's office where it is often discovered that these struggles are the surface manifestations of something deeper that needs healing.
Andrew's approach to counseling is highly relational and experiential, drawing primarily from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) with a strong somatic focus. This integrative approach incorporates insights from attachment theory, neuroscience, trauma studies, and psychodynamic wisdom to heal trauma and facilitate deep transformation. We experience nothing apart from our bodies, so allowing the body to have a voice in the process enables changes to sink in deeper and last well beyond treatment. Some clients find this somatic focus challenging at first, but they discover new levels of vitality as they connect head to heart to gut and all the way down to their feet.
Andrew has formal biblical/theological training and over a decade of experience in ministry, so he is uniquely equipped to work with Christians, including vocational ministers, who want to bring their walk with Jesus into therapy. Andrew loves working with those moving past fundamentalism, spiritually distorted childhood experiences, and spiritual abuse into a restored, embodied, whole-hearted faith. That said, Andrew is a trained professional counselor often described as gentle, curious, and hospitable who has seen excellent outcomes working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Andrew is available to meet in person in the Westport area of Kansas City or online via Telehealth.
