Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, LPC-AAndriana Duran is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate located in Austin, TX. Andriana is passionate about providing trauma-informed, comprehensive mental health treatment for individuals of all ages. She particularly enjoys supporting members of the LGBTQI community, as well as those who have previously experienced traumatic events like domestic violence or sexual assault. Andriana’s clients suffer from anxiety, depression, PTSD, or dissociation. Clients’ symptoms range from panic attacks to freezing and feeling disconnected from real life while in distress.
Andriana provides clients with an evidence-based therapy modality called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She helps clients identify their triggers by examining their thoughts before and during their anxiety attacks or dissociative experiences. Clients then learn how to change their thought patterns to avoid becoming distressed. Andriana also incorporates mindful elements into her therapy. She teaches clients how to hone their attention to stay present in their current feelings and sensations. By using grounding techniques, clients can begin to manage their emotions, which can decrease their symptoms. Andriana never pushes clients to disclose information they don’t feel comfortable sharing, and strives to create a safe, warm atmosphere in her sessions. She recognizes the complexities of trauma and encourages clients to be patient with themselves as they go through the healing process.
Andriana earned a Master’s degree from the University of North Texas. She has previously worked in the community mental health setting and the academic counseling setting. It’s important to Andriana that the client remains the center of each session and they get to direct where the conversation goes next.
