Ania Baumritter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an office on the Upper West Side specializing in depression, anxiety, trauma, and issues surrounding parenting, including postpartum depression and stress. She especially enjoys working with adolescents through gender identity concerns, academic pressures, and relationship challenges. Additionally, she has extensive experience supporting individuals with trauma, gently guiding clients through processing difficult emotions and healing at their own pace.
Ania’s approach to therapy is largely insight-oriented, drawing upon family systems therapy, dyadic developmental therapy, and other forms of psychoanalytic therapy to increase clients’ understanding of past experiences, including emotional trauma and attachment issues. She believes that this insight into the past will help shed light onto clients’ current abilities to form emotional bonds and empathic relationships and to regulate their emotions.
Ania has a special interest in working with mothers and infants to strengthen their bond and develop enhanced emotional attunement. She offers a nonjudgmental and safe space in which clients work through their past at their own pace, gradually developing the capacity to form strong interpersonal relationships. She offers sessions in English, Polish, and French at her office on the Upper West Side, a five minute walk from the 79th street station.
