Professional statement

Anjuelle Floyd is a Marriage and Family Therapist in Oakland, CA. She specializes in anxiety and depression related to trauma that often manifests as low self-esteem, shame, lack of confidence, and confusion, loss and/or lack of identity.

Anjuelle employs unconditional positive regard in a psychodynamic framework.

Utilizing affective expression and deepening--and when appropriate, affective immediacy--she facilitates clients to explore their life challenges and the emotions triggered by those challenges.

When helpful, she offers cognitive reframes to dispel distortions that can cloud one’s perception--the ability to see the larger picture.

Anjuelle supports clients in bringing into view the forest hidden by trees towards the goal of assisting them in creating and living the lives they desire.

Anjuelle is trained in EMDR [Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing] which can further assist clients who feel burdened, stuck and disempowered by past traumas.

Anjuelle is a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies She holds a MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College, Port Townsend, WA and has studied at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology.

Message to clients

Life is a perpetual process of befriending with one’s self, discovery and sinking deeper into one’s body which holds so much knowledge and wisdom.

Connecting with our bodies allows us to develop awareness, acceptance, and compassion and for who we are and to achieve our goals.

Connecting with our bodies is integral to the process of coming to know, embracing and reveling in ourselves, and our dreams, hopes and wishes along with our regrets, hurts and despair.

To know joy is to also know pain. As light is to dark, there can be no recognition of joy without an acquaintance with pain and sorrow. Each fulfills and rounds out the other while offering a ground of being upon which for the other to exist.

Ever curious, I support and encourage clients to remain open to the exploration of their lives, and the inquiry of their thoughts and feelings that stitch their lives to others, and bind one to one's self.

The power of the individual held within our bodies and moving throughout the community of the world is an incredible phenomenon to observe and experience.

Everything we do and say reflects the essence of who we are. And yet often we understand so little of ourselves.

I offer an open, supportive, affirming, and non-judgmental space for those who wish to understand themselves more clearly and deeply, and become more embodied towards the goal of creating and thriving in the lives they desire to live.
