Dr. Anna Berin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology who has extensive professional experience working within and across systems, as well as with individuals across the developmental lifespan including teens, young adults, and adults. She also provides LGBTQIA+ affirming care and has supported many of her clients through their gender transition. As such, she helps her clients explore where they are in the world and how best to support their journey.
Dr. Berin believes change happens when individuals are ready to make adjustments in their lives, and she is excited to join them on their journey. She considers herself to be an integrationist, incorporating elements from a variety of treatment modalities taking into consideration the whole-person by appreciating their emotional, psychological and behavioral aspects of functioning. She understands that individuals have their own unique strengths and ways of being in the world. She utilizes what clients bring into therapy to help them clarify intention and to understand how to make actionable steps to achieve their goals. While she takes into account individual limitations, she focuses heavily on insight-oriented techniques to help challenge clients to think beyond their barriers, to understand what may be contributing or sustaining their behaviors, and how to access their resilience (and grit). When working with families and couples, Dr. Berin does not limit herself to any particular challenge and has experience navigating various issues of conflict, non-monogamy, redefining a relationship, and trans-generational trauma.
Dr. Berin is passionate about her work and is committed to ongoing- learning to ensure she is offering evidence-based, trauma informed and culturally sensitive treatment. She does both long-term and short-term work with an ultimate goal of supporting clients through compassionate, but honest and transparent dialogue. She looks forward to meeting you!
