Anna Stephenson is licensed creative arts therapist and certified child life specialist who welcomes kids, teens, and adults to her fully online (and fully awesome!) private practice. Anna’s approach to therapy is playful, creative, open-minded, and kind. Her first priority when starting with a new client is building a therapeutic relationship and ensuring that clients feel safe and heard while sharing their story with her.
A trauma-informed therapist whose clinical background involved working with patients and families in children’s hospitals, Anna is particularly tuned into to those navigating medical journeys (of themselves or loved ones), loss, life transitions, depression and anxiety. Anna helps clients unravel how their past experiences might be influencing present challenges, and gently guides them as they reframe the narrative to disrupt old patterns of being with self-confidence and compassion.
Change can be uncomfortable. When talking about painful experiences feels too overwhelming or vulnerable for clients, Anna finds that processing these subjects using art, writing, music, or metaphor can feel safer while still yielding powerful results. Kids and teens can especially benefit from more creative or play based interventions to gain insight and relief when in therapy. Anna’s training in both the humanistic and creative arts therapy approaches means that she centers the client’s perspective and supports them in understanding and expressing their truest selves without judgment - whether they are “creative people” or not.
Anna’s clients, like you, deserve joy. Even when things are hard.
