Professional statement

Dr. Anne Welsh is a licensed psychologist located in Cambridge, MA. Dr. Welsh sees clients of all ages and life stages. Many of her clients are students who feel immense academic and personal pressure and want to grow their coping skills to combat stress. Other clients are new parents who would like to talk about their experiences beginning their families. Dr. Welsh helps clients find balance in their lives and determine the next steps towards a healthier, more comfortable life.

Dr. Welsh’s approach to therapy draws from many evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She collaborates with her clients to set and reach goals, including offering guidance on practical goals in everyday life. She provides a warm, compassionate space where clients feel empowered to problem solve, talk about their emotions, and develop a framework of self-love. She encourages clients to reflect on their past and notice the patterns that emerge.

Dr. Welsh has her PhD in Counseling Psychology. She has extensive experience working in student health and received additional training in eating disorder and peripartum mental health. Her goal is to support clients as they reach authentic, enjoyable lives that include recharging after stressful moments and connecting with those around them.

Message to clients

Does it  feel like it’s hard to catch your breath? Trying to juggle school or work, relationships (or searching for a relationship), family responsibilities, and everything else on your plate can feel completely overwhelming. It can feel like you’ve lost sight of yourself or that you don’t even know who you are or what you need. Maybe you even feel like you are the only one that’s struggling to keep up, or that if you pause to rest, everything will fall apart.

I help clients feel like they can take a deep breath- I provide a safe space to unpack all of the baggage you are holding, where it okay to not have it all figured out. Together we look at the current pain and how we can ease it. We also look at the past- at patterns, relationships and history that can have an impact here and now or shed light on the why of your current struggle. Together we find a way through, that is unique to you.
